China Times/China News Network (Zhao Xuemei) On July 15, 2025, the lecture-concert "Dialogue between China and the West·Final Day" hosted by Sino-British Concert was held at the B1 Cavendish Concert Hall of Beijing Tianqiao Art Center. The event was hosted by media person Li Yun and attracted a large number of musicians, students and the public to participate, playing a symphony of resonance between Chinese and Western cultures in the hot summer.

This lecture-concert concludes the Sino-British Orchestra's "Dialogues between China and the West" series. Following their London "Spring Sounds," Li Jinfeng, a Cambridge University PhD holder in electronic engineering and improvisational pianist, and Julian Jacobson, a professor at the Royal Academy of Music and Steinway Artist, will reunite on stage. Through a combination of dialogue and performance, they will delve into the differences and integration of Chinese and Western music.

In the first half of the "Panel Discussion," the two panelists engaged in a thoughtful exchange of ideas on aesthetics, creation, interpretation, and education. Jacobson compared the historical depth of Western music to "music as a river," while Li Jinfeng argued that aesthetics is fluid and individual, defying simple binary categorization. Discussing cross-cultural interpretation, both emphasized the importance of balancing fidelity to the original work with personal expression. Jacobson, quoting his mentor, declared, "Music is concentration," while Li Jinfeng stated that music is a source of inspiration for humanity's exploration of the connection between the universe and itself.
